Kolkata, December 19, 2025 —the 14th edition of the Solar Ambassador Program unfolded, jointly hosted by the International Solar Innovation Council (InSIC) and the NB Institute for Rural Technology (NBIRT). Students from Basanti Devi College took center stage, immersing themselves in practical demonstrations of cutting-edge solar solutions designed to power a sustainable tomorrow.

From sleek solar PV panels to ingenious pico hydro generators, participants engaged with a wide spectrum of technologies. The showcase also featured solar-powered sanitary napkin vending machines, water purification units, pumping systems, and eco-friendly bamboo-based solar lights and torches—each innovation underscoring how renewable energy can seamlessly integrate into everyday life.

Adding an international dimension, renewable energy experts from Finland—Risto Isomaki, Markku Tahkokorpi, and Pekka Järvilehto—shared their insights on the global clean energy movement. Their perspectives encouraged students to envision solar innovation not just as technology, but as a career pathway brimming with opportunities.

The program was further enriched by the guidance of Prof. S.P. GonChaudhuri, whose mentorship inspired attendees to actively consider roles in the renewable energy sector. His presence reinforced the importance of nurturing young minds to lead the green transition.

Interactive sessions allowed students to exchange ideas, ask questions, and brainstorm solutions, fostering a spirit of collaboration. Volunteers from InSIC and NBIRT ensured smooth execution, making the event both educational and engaging.
