On April 11, 2025, the International Solar Innovation Council (InSIC), successfully organized a one-day workshop titled "Empowering Change Through Sustainable Solutions for Energy and the Environment." jointly with St. Xavier’s Collegiate School, Kolkata. The workshop attracted over 130 participants from 11 prestigious schools across Kolkata, providing a platform for students and educators to engage in meaningful discussions on sustainable energy and environmental conservation.

The event kicked off with a formal lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by an inspiring welcome address from Rev. Fr. Roshan Tirkey, S.J., Principal of St. Xavier’s Collegiate School. Chief Guest Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, S.J., Principal of St. Xavier’s College, and special speaker Dr. S.P. Gon Chaudhuri, a leading expert in sustainable energy, emphasized the importance of sustainability in education and its impact on shaping future leaders in the field.

The technical sessions saw experts like Dr. Jayanta Basu, Dr. S.P. Gon Chaudhuri, Dr. Hiranmay Saha, and Dr. Peter Lund (virtually) share their insights into environmental sustainability and renewable energy technologies. The sessions sparked engaging conversations among participants, with a focus on the global need for sustainable energy solutions.

One of the highlights of the day was the Quiz Competition, where teams from various schools competed in a thrilling, multi-round event. The quiz fostered teamwork and critical thinking while educating participants on key environmental and energy issues. Winners were awarded certificates, along with other prizes that encouraged eco-friendly living.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Fr. Narendra Singh, S.J., Vice Principal of St. Xavier’s Collegiate School, recognizing the collaboration and active participation from all attendees.

With a commitment to fostering sustainable change, the workshop ended on a high note, leaving participants with a deeper understanding of the critical need for environmental stewardship and the role of education in driving positive change.
